Come on over for food and conversation as we kick off a new effort to update Seattle’s Comprehensive Plan!

Background:

Seattle’s Comprehensive Plan shapes what housing is allowed in the city. Yet we are still using an Urban Village Strategy from 1994! Housing Now Seattle is starting a public conversation about a major update to this plan. With the present housing crisis, it is clear we must change from limiting new housing to narrow portions of the city, to a strategy that welcomes people (and their housing) in more broadly. This is necessary if we are build a lot more housing including a lot more publicly financed and non-profit housing. Creating and adopting a Welcoming Communities Strategy will require a broad coalition of individuals and groups. Let’s get started! Bring yourself and something nostalgic, ideally from 1994 or thereabouts. Food and beverages will be provided but you’re welcome to bring something to share if you like.
